Sunscreen is a staple in many of our bathroom vanities, but not all brands are equal. Sunscreen is supposed to protect us - from excess radiation from the sun. But so many options come with a plethora of harmful chemicals that can be worse than the sunburn. Doesn’t sound so protective, does it?
Toxic ingredients found in many commercial sunscreens, like oxybenzone, have been shown to be a potential endocrine disruptor, allergenic and, because it is absorbed in large amounts through the skin, can be found in human breast milk, urine and blood. Children, due to their smaller size, may be more vulnerable to harm from oxybenzone.
Our product uses mineral blockers instead of harmful chemicals. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are rated much safer by the Environmental Working Group at EWG.org - the only two ingredients they recommend for your sunscreen choice. As they don’t get absorbed through your skin barrier, they won’t end up in your body and fluids.
Coenzyme Q10 is vital for helping to produce energy in all our cells, including our skin. It’s also a powerful antioxidant. Organika’s Sunscreen Lotion is formulated with coenzyme Q10 to reduce the oxidative damage that can lead to uneven skin tone, fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of premature aging.
Our skin, being the layer that separates and protects us from the outside world, is the first to encounter many damaging pollutants and chemicals that can cause free radical damage. When those skin cells are young, they have ample CoQ10 to help cell health and turnover as well as to be an antioxidant that helps neutralize those free radicals before they create damage. As we age, our CoQ10 production slows and our energy production can decrease. Supplementing topically with CoQ10 can help fortify your cell’s health and reduce signs of premature aging.
